Scanverra vs. Lighthouse

Lighthouse is Google's free, open-source auditing tool. It runs in Chrome DevTools, from the command line, as a Node module and in CI, and it scores a page on performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO. Scanverra uses Lighthouse-based lab testing for its performance numbers and builds a hosted website audit around it. If you are looking for a Lighthouse alternative, the real question is not which engine is better, it is whether you need more than the raw report.

Where Lighthouse is the better choice

Lighthouse is free with no limits, and it runs on your own machine. That gives it three advantages no hosted tool can match. It can audit localhost and staging builds before anything is deployed. It can audit pages behind a login because it runs in your own browser session. And with Lighthouse CI you can gate pull requests on performance budgets inside your own pipeline, with full control over the configuration, throttling and number of runs. If you are a developer tuning one page and you are comfortable reading the raw audits, Lighthouse in DevTools is the fastest loop there is, and you may not need a Lighthouse alternative at all.

Where Scanverra is the better choice

Lighthouse reports what is wrong; it does not tell you how to fix it in your stack, and it stops at the four categories above. Scanverra is the Lighthouse alternative for teams that want the whole picture without assembling it themselves. One scan adds security header and cookie analysis, deeper SEO checks, accessibility findings mapped to WCAG, and AI-written fixes for the framework or CMS it detects (Next.js, WordPress, Shopify and others), so a finding like "reduce unused JavaScript" comes with the change to make in your codebase. Reports are saved with history and score changes between scans, can be shared or exported as a PDF for a client, and paid plans add scheduled monitoring with alerts when scores drop. The same account also covers security scans, real-browser testing and repository scanning.

Lighthouse alternative or Lighthouse companion?

For most teams the honest answer is both. Keep Lighthouse in DevTools and Lighthouse CI for local development and pre-deploy checks, where running on your own machine matters. Use Scanverra as the Lighthouse alternative for production: monitoring live sites, covering security and SEO in the same report, handing fixes to whoever owns the code, and reporting to clients or stakeholders who will never open DevTools. Read Lighthouse score explained for what the numbers mean and why they vary between runs.

What Scanverra does not do that Lighthouse does

  • Scanverra only audits public URLs. It cannot reach localhost, private networks or pages behind a login, where Lighthouse can.
  • It does not expose every Lighthouse configuration option, such as custom throttling profiles or user flows across several steps.
  • Lighthouse is unlimited and free. Scanverra's website audit is free too, but after five audits a month there is a 15-minute wait before re-auditing the same site, and monitoring needs a paid plan.

If those gaps matter to you, pair the two rather than replacing one with the other. See how Scanverra also compares to PageSpeed Insights, which wraps Lighthouse with real-user field data, and to GTmetrix.

الأسئلة الشائعة

الأسئلة الشائعة

It depends on what you are missing. For production monitoring, security header checks and stack-specific fixes in one report, a hosted audit like Scanverra fills the gaps. For real-user data, PageSpeed Insights adds field metrics. For local and CI testing, Lighthouse itself is hard to beat.

Scanverra's performance numbers come from Lighthouse-based lab testing, so scores are comparable. Scanverra adds security, deeper SEO, WCAG-mapped accessibility findings, AI-written fixes, history and monitoring around them.

Lab scores vary with the test machine, network throttling, location and run-to-run noise. Small differences are normal. Compare trends across runs rather than single numbers.

No. Scanverra only scans publicly reachable URLs. Use Lighthouse in DevTools or Lighthouse CI for localhost, staging behind a VPN, or pages that require a login.
