Frequently asked questions
An og image test alone only tells you whether the image loads and its dimensions. This checks the full set of open graph tags around it - title, description, url, type - since a missing og:title or og:description breaks an og link's preview just as badly as a broken image.
Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Slack each cache a link's open graph tags per URL, independent of your server. Changing the file doesn't retroactively update previews already scraped - use each platform's own debugger (Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector) to force a fresh scrape, or add a cache-busting query parameter.
1200x630px (a 1.91:1 ratio) is the widely-recommended size - it fills Facebook, LinkedIn, and X's large-image card without cropping. Anything much smaller looks blurry when scaled up; anything with a very different aspect ratio gets cropped unpredictably.
X (Twitter) reads twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, and twitter:image first, but falls back to the matching og: tag when a twitter: one is missing. Setting og:title, og:description, og:image, and twitter:card covers every major platform without duplicating every field.
